The LAMQG is committed to using the art of quilting to make a meaningful difference in the community. Through its charitable outreach, the guild creates and donates handcrafted quilts to a wide range of organizations that support individuals and families in need. Each quilt is thoughtfully made to provide warmth, comfort, and a tangible reminder that someone cares, transforming time, fabric, and skill into gifts of compassion that support important charitable missions.
Here are the initiatives we currently support:
Miriam’s House is a sober living facility on the Westside of Los Angeles that houses women and their children as they transition into sobriety. The goal is to keep families together and give these women the skills that they need to stay sober and transition to life outside the facility. LAMQG makes quilts for Miriam’s House at Christmas time. We ask for throw sized quilts or children’s/ baby quilts (preferably gender neutral). For more information, contact our Community Outreach Coordinator.
Our latest community outreach opportunity is through Cases for Smiles. Our pillowcases will benefit LA Children’s Hospital. Pillowcases are simple & quick so they allow you to help give back, even when you don’t have a lot of time! There are many tutorials online. Here’s one to get you started! We will be collecting pillowcases throughout the year.
USC Norris is a major regional and national resource for cancer research, treatment, prevention, education, and community engagement. LAMQG makes comfort quilts for terminal patients at USC throughout the year. We ask for throw sized quilts (gender neutral). For more information, contact our Community Outreach Coordinator.
