Quilt for Democracy Challenge

From June through August, our LAMQG challenge will be contributing to The Quilt for Democracy, a collaborative quilt of monumental scale inspired by the AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Quilt blocks should be cut to 13” x 13” which allows for a ½” seam allowance. When sewn using the ½” seam allowance, the actual finished block reflecting your image/message will then be 12” x 12”.

Patriot Certificates will be given to the guild member who submits the most democracy blocks by the September guild meeting and Sewing Arts gift certificates will be awarded to the top 3 producers at the October guild meeting!

Quilt for Democracy Sew In

Join us for an afternoon of sewing, community, and creativity.

There is no cost to attend; however, we kindly ask that you register in advance so we can ensure the room is set up appropriately for all participants.

Quilt for Others Sew In (Sat, August 15, 2026)

Come sew with guild friends for the charities LAMQG supports!

You may work on a project of your own that you plan to donate (quilts, pillowcases or your Quilt for Democracy block), or begin a project on site. There will be demos of how to make pillowcases and easy blocks (hourglass, rail fence, jelly roll) that can quickly create beautiful quilts for someone else.

Please join us!

Registration is required so that we know how many to expect. There is no fee for this event.

Join us for a fun fabric swap, appetizers and treats!

Mark your calendars for our October Guild Meeting, featuring Food & Fat Quarters - a food-sharing celebration combined with a fun fabric exchange!

Participants will receive a mystery box of five coordinated fat quarters called "A Blind Date with Fabric."

To participate in the swap, bring 5 coordinating fat quarters to the July, August or September meetings and give them to Dona McKenzie or Sarah Nusser. We will put you on the list of fat quarter swap participants for the October LAMQG meeting.

Regardless of whether you participate in the fat quarter exchange, bring a savory or sweet item to share during social time for the October meeting!
